Day out, day in — we belong to the Lord, and we want to give our best. God has given each of us a part to play in the world he has entrusted to us.
The Queen of Sheba heard of Solomon and set out to meet him. She asked questions, looked around, tasted what was set before her — and discovered more than she expected. She brought gifts and went home enriched herself, blessing the Lord. Daniel was young, far from home, eager to learn and determined to serve the Lord wherever life took him. He was tested, but stood firm, because God gave him wisdom.
So, as a new academic year begins, may we be curious like the Queen of Sheba and steadfast like Daniel: ready to explore, question, learn, share, and welcome. And when it is time to leave one boat and climb into another, may we have the courage to row hard. May we find good friends along the way, enjoy the journey, and keep listening for the voice of the Lord. Now, “Take courage! Get up, he’s calling you” (Mark 10:49).
