Every Sunday, from the beginning of September until the end of July, we celebrate Mass at San Bartolomeo’s at 6 PM (Strada Maggiore 4, 40125 Bologna).
This International English Mass began at the start of Lent 2024 as an opportunity for students and English speakers living in Bologna to worship together and build friendships. A beautiful instrumental choir soon developed, becoming a sign of a serious commitment to a welcoming and well-prepared celebration. To date, people from more than forty nationalities have actively participated in the Mass.
At present, three priests serve the community: Fr Marco Settembrini (who initiated the project under a formal mandate from Cardinal Archbishop Matteo Zuppi), Fr Giovanni Rinaldi, and Fr Nicolas Facile. While most participants are students, we are always delighted to welcome families, tourists, and residents from a wide range of backgrounds.
Since last October, we have regularly offered catechesis, shared a monthly lunch at the beginning of each month, and held Bible study sessions on Thursdays. Our sincere desire is to provide a spiritual home for students, expats, and young professionals in Bologna. We recognize that joining a community to worship the Lord and to experience the universal character of the Catholic Church is a great gift.
